Privacy Policy

We collect the minimum data required to run a small technical blog — anonymous analytics and optional GitHub-based comments. Nothing is sold, shared, or used for advertising.

Overview #

This Privacy Policy describes how Ubitools ("we", "our", or "the site") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit www.ubitools.com.

We are a personal technical blog focused on programming, system design, and developer tooling. We collect the minimum amount of data needed to operate the site and improve content quality.

02

Information we collect #

We do not require you to register, log in, or submit personal information to read content on this site. Two limited categories of data are collected indirectly:

  • Anonymous analytics — pageviews, referrers, screen size, country, browser/OS, with IP anonymization enabled. We never receive your full IP address.
  • Comment data — if you choose to leave a comment via the embedded comment widget, your GitHub identity (handle, avatar, comment text) is stored on GitHub Issues, not on our servers.
03

How we use the information #

Aggregate analytics help us understand which articles are useful, which load slowly, and where readers come from. We use this only to improve the writing and the reading experience.

We do not build advertising profiles, sell data to third parties, or use information for retargeting.

04

Third-party services #

The site relies on a small set of third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics 4 (with anonymize_ip) — anonymous usage metrics.
  • Utterances — comments backed by GitHub Issues, governed by GitHub's privacy statement.
  • Cloudflare Pages — static hosting and CDN; access logs are processed by Cloudflare per their privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts / rsms.me — webfont delivery.
05

Cookies & local storage #

We use a minimal set of client-side storage:

  • localStorage["theme"] — your light/dark theme preference. Never sent over the network.
  • Google Analytics first-party cookies (_ga*) — anonymous session attribution.

You can block analytics by enabling Do Not Track, an ad-blocker, or by clearing site data in your browser at any time.

06

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA) #

If you are located in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we may hold about you.

Because we don't collect identifying data ourselves, the practical action is to delete your comments directly on GitHub or to clear analytics data via the methods above. For any other request, email us — we'll respond within 30 days.

07

Data retention #

Analytics data is retained for 14 months, the default GA4 setting. Comment data persists on GitHub Issues until you delete it. Server access logs are subject to Cloudflare's retention policy.

08

Changes to this policy #

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as legal requirements change. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the homepage for at least 14 days.
